Despite the high oil and gold prices why are the stocks still up?

Well they did come down aways here in the U.S. today. I don't know about internationally, but the main thing is that the market is so diverse and that there are emerging markets like China that are pumping money into the international economy. Even though housing markets are weak and oil prices are high, there is still low unemployment and lower inflation, so the economy is still pretty stable.Despite the high oil and gold prices why are the stocks still up?
The markets are not always logical. The fourth quarter is traditionally the strongest, it's bonus time on Wall Street, and investors would like to defer capital gains into '08.Despite the high oil and gold prices why are the stocks still up?
Because the economy of the United States of America is still growing.
Stocks are at the top of the pile, The economy is on the precipice of recessession, Jan to aug 2008, has the most re calculation of ARM interest on US mortgages, and the housing crisis will be far worse than it is now

US dollar is falling, imported goods are rising in price, The Practice of US consumers taking equity from their houses for spending is over, and the baby boomers have not saved for retirement, and they are almost at that age, and the gov't cannot honor it's committment on retirement and health benefits, and the government has record debt, record current account deficit, and record trade deficits.....

So you think the US in in Good shape and the stock market should soar...Sorry...Find a bunker to hide in..
