Why are gas prices so high now even though the price of crude oil is low? also it is winter now?

Where do you live? I live in Canada, and gas prices have fallen 10 to 15% since last year. That roughly is equal to or grater than the price drop in crude oil.





Also, you are assuming that gas is the only product made from crude. In the winter they change a lot of the production to heating fuel. So if demand is high for that, they produce less gas so the price goes up. By mid spring gas prices go up as vacation car traffic goes up.Why are gas prices so high now even though the price of crude oil is low? also it is winter now?

the car prices are so high because they want to make more money than they deserve. and no its spring.
You're not paying attention. Here, gas prices have fallen from (say for regular unleaded) $2.75 to $2.05 a gallon since last spring -- that's a 25% decline.





Meanwhile oil has fallen in that time from $75 to $58 a barrel. A decline of 23%. The price of gas has fallen MORE than the price of oil.
In the winter if, The tempratures are very cold in the northeast. A large portion of crude oil is diverted to the manufacture of home heating oil. This is similar to kerosene and is used extensivly to heat homes in the new england area. this leaves less crude available for refining into gasoline and such. In a mild winter more crude would be used for gasoline. and the price would reflect it.
